Hey, I'm Kenya!

I’m a rising senior majoring in marketing at Howard University. Currently, I’m looking for a full-time product design role. Previously I interned as a summer associate at Backstage Capital, and a creative director at PEEA.

My Story

Even before identifying as a designer, I’ve always thought like one. One example of this is when I started a YouTube channel to inform high school students about life at my university because I didn’t feel the content online gave me adequate information when I was an incoming student. During this project, I fell in love with creating a user experience. I learned how to research my subscribers’ needs, design thumbnails in Adobe Photoshop, and control the pacing of my videos in Final Cut Pro to make them more engaging.

My studies as a marketing student have taught me always to place the user first and focus on their pain points. I aim to use my studies and experience as a product designer to build simple products that better meet the user’s needs.

Beyond Design

Outside of design I enjoy writing, reading, listening to podcasts, and biking.
