#121: Last in-person final

Quick highlights from today

  • Finished my last in-person final
  • Spoke to the same student entrepreneur from yesterday again
  • Went on a hike and asked black UMD students why they chose a PWI over an HBCU
  • Watched the Sopranos for the first time
  • Wrapping up the day with this journal

The big takeaway from today is I’m way more interested in telling stories than designing and building software. This may not be the case forever but I noticed that it wasn’t fun studying for my software design test but it was extremely fun asking UMD students why they chose to go to a PWI over an HBCU. The latter experience was more interactive and I got to learn directly from the people I asked questions to. One task felt like work and the other didn’t. I plan to double down on telling stories through interacting with other people. And if I’m not making progress on a project where I’m sharing stories it may be because I don’t find my format to be interesting but that doesn’t mean I can’t change the format.
